Ebay AM-FM $500 w/22 Hours to go...Amazing?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1972-...spagenameZWDVW

These prices continue to amaze me. This radio is stated as nice but not mint.

Actually not a bad price for a restored am/fm radio. I see them go for 200 to 300 all the time for a unit with unknown working condition.

I guess I am not saying it's not worth $500...just that these prices amaze me.

I used to have one of those. I practically gave it away for $40. I wish I would have known. It even worked.

teeitup...you make a very good point. I bought my radio a number of years ago for $150...although it works it needs a good tune up/reconditioning which will cost about $300...which if added up I will have at least $450. So maybe I shouldn't be amazed with the prices of the AM-FM radios.But...are the factory truck AM-FM radios that rare?

Thumbs up Re: Ebay AM-FM $500 w/22 Hours to go...Amazing?

I rather pay for the almost correct van AM/FM, than the outrageously priced correct truck radio. The only external difference when installed is the color and font of the numbers. On the very late units, the lens with the cursive Delco logo must be substituted.

1970cstblazer you make a valid point except...if one is trying to keep their truck cosmetically correct as possible...then a factory truck AM-FM radio is the only answer. If one didn't care in being that correct then the van radio would be a good substitute and a much better value. Since my 70cst came factory loaded I wanted to keep the cosmetics as close as possible although 80% of the people would have no clue to the differrence. So it comes down to the need one has in radios. JMHO

I could find a bunch of other ways to spend $500 on my truck. Come to think of it that's what I paid for my truck .

Talking Re: Ebay AM-FM $500 w/22 Hours to go...Amazing?

Even the van radios are not a deal anymore. I have seen good working units sell over $300...

Maybe the dial assembly can be reproduced with the correct font and color, and all the slightly incorrect van radios can look totally authentic.

And to think how many of these got thrown away over the years to put in aftermarket 8 tracks or cassette players.
