I know there have been a thousand threads like this, but it is hard to decipher from the lot. I have complete R12 OEM AC system in my truck that has not been used for around 5 years. What will I need to buy to get it working with r134, provided all original equipment is functioning?

134a rerfrigerant ueses a poe oil R12 is a mineral oil so the oil will need to be changed if the system is leak free it may not be with 134a because the 134a molecule is 12 times smaller,but if the system will hold a 500 micron vacume it will prove the system to be leak free.

you need to change the oil, dryer, orings and adjust your POA to read 26 psi.

You don't need a fancy POA eliminator, your A6 compressor wasn't made for that.
I read some where that you don't have to worry about flushing the old oil however I would attempt to get most of it out before filling with the correct oil.
You should replace all o-rings now with R134a compatible o-rings.
You must replace the receiver/dryer (black can in front of core support).
Pull a vacuum. (This boils the water out of the system)
Fill with R134a.

I have, on a shelf, in my garage, 2 cases of 12ea.-12 oz cans of R-12.
I would be willing to part with all, or part, of one case.
I have no idea in the world what they'd be worth, if anything, nowadays.

Thanks El Jay, but I think I would only be prolonging the inevitable(R134a conversion). I have not had this system working since I've owned the truck, so I imagine I'm going to have to rplace some parts anyway. Thanks for the heads up though. I'm sure someone here would love to take it off your hands. Have a good one.
