Re: Got miss? - Distributor Cap

OKAY GUYS- HAVING A HELL OF A TIME WITH THIS

new cap, new rotor, plugs gapped, wires correct- WHATS MY PROBLEM

this is really eating away at me. all i wanted to do was take a minute to clean the cap and check the plugs- now im buried DEEP in a hole of crappy engine running.

The only other thing i can think of is that i am grounding out with my wire giving my dizzy 12v. Tonight i am going to do some re-wiring and find out if this will fix it.

Re: Got miss? - Distributor Cap

well fellas... i was about to give up, but me and my biddy figured out the problem that was causing my terrible running conditions

i hate to say it, but my ford-loving friend figured it out. the three prong clip that stabs into the HEI distributor was not making contact on all three points. the red wire had fallen down just far enough to look connected but not be connected.

we found this out after replacing all the shady looking wires that ren from the battery to the starter to the distributor.

looks like it was a simple fix... but after gapping the plugs three times, checking all the wires, checking the firing order countless times, messing with the carb, replacing wires, reinstalling the module, and numerous times with the timing light
