Smile 700R4 conversion

I plan on installing a 700R4 in my 68, do I need to change steering column to do this conversion in order to get that extra gear?

Re: 700R4 conversion

I converted mine. It was a Power Glide befor I switched it and I can hit every gear.

If you are making a parts list add this TCIŽ 700R4 Constant Pressure Valve Body it will keep you from having low pressure from having the TV cable slightly off. With the TCI kit you don't have to go through all the trouble in trying to set the cable just right to keep it from messing up the trans. The valve body makes it to where the only thing the TV cable is for is to adjust the shift points. The bowtie overdrives kit keeps it where the TV cable adjusts the shift points and what pressure the transmission is at.

Truck is now finished to the new owners design and running around.
I was shown some pictures of the finished product. At least it survived the junk yard.
