Well I've had my welder for almost 10 years. But since I am still on the first bottle of gas, I guess you could say I'm still starting out.

Not too bad I suppose for exhaust pieces.

Now I just need some time to go over to the shop and fit up the X-pipe.

I don't think those welds look bad at all, better than I can do. I can grind very good though!

Re: if only I could weld....

Thanks for the kudos. Gets me inspired to do more.

Here is the Summit 3" X-pipe and Hooker AeroChamber mufflers I will be using.

Here are the cutouts I welded this morning bolted to the headers with the front part of the X-pipe in place.

I need to trim a couple inches off the front 45's to bring the X closer to the collector flange. The mufflers I have are like 22" long. It's going to be a tight sqeeze to get them tucked in front of the axle.

Re: if only I could weld....

The looks of the bead mean nothing! The only importance is the strength, and a solid weld that doesn't leak! Let me tell you, submerged arc with a stick welder looks ugly! It will hold more than any other weld out there!

Re: if only I could weld....

those welds look pretty good man...like a few other people have said...its not the looks of the weld that matter (especially since they are under the truck) its that they don't leak or break on ya that does
