Dumb Question Here
I'm doing a drum swap out on the front of my truck, but I have 6-lug universal wheels. According to LMC the only disc brake rotors off for the 71-72's with 6 lugs are the 4WD ones. So does anyone know if 2WD & 4WD rotors are interchangable?

Re: Dumb Question Here
You'll probably have better luck w/this in the regular 67-72 section. Oh, and I'm putting 6 lug rotors on my 2wd, got em w/my 6-lug kit from ECE.

Re: Dumb Question Here
Id guess the hub size may differ 2 versus 4 wheel drive on the fronts.

Re: Dumb Question Here
i would have to agree with the previous statement.
a 4wd junkie will chime in soon i would think. have you looking into later model trucks? im sure into the late 70's they were back to 6 lug wheels weren't they?

Re: Dumb Question Here
the 4X4 disks will not fit.
You can get a conversion rotor/hub assembly from most any vendor to keep your wheels. However, personally, i would look at the price of those rotors verses 5 lug rotors avalible at any parts store, then considor swappin out to 5 lug all around. |

Re: Dumb Question Here
2wds were not 6 lug again until 2000 or so, as far as i kno, rotors are probably the same. measure them and get the measurements from LMC

I'm only going with the 6-lugs temporarily too. I've already purchased a new 5-lug rear end ($150) and everything from the spindles out w/5 lug rotors for the front ($75) from the junk yard so I'm all set to go. If the 5-lug wheels I want didn't cost $3400, I would make the switch now, but since they do I'll keep the 6 lug universal wheels until I'm ready to go all the way. Thanks for the advice guys.

Re: Dumb Question Here
Thanks for the heads up. I went ahead and ordered the rotors from ECE. Should be in the end of next week

Please don't double post...not only is it against the rules, it makes the subject hard to follow and show up as another hit in the search results.

Re: Dumb Question Here
Thanks, I didn't know that before. Hopefully there isn't anything in there about giving up your first born or 50% of your income because I wouldn't know that either I'm going back to read the rules now.
