Re: Having Swap Thoughts
That`s the thing. This was in a 6.2 diesel Suburban which has a mechanical fuel pump...nothing computer controlled on the motor. The ECM is a stand-alone just for the trans.I guess I`d have to come up with a speedometer of some sort.
The other option is leave the GMC original and revive the Suburban. It`s body needs work (dents and rust starting)and it needs motor work. For pretty cheap I could buy a Suburban with a decent body and motor to set on my frame and suspension, which is where my money is with this Suburban.I even have the original 6.5TD from my`92 K3500 that I could drop in w/o the turbo. That motor just needed an injector pump and the same pump sits on the 6.2 in the Suburban. This thing got 20mpg all day long with better trip mileage.I`d skip the turbo just to keep it simple.I have a custom dual 3" exhaust already and the a/c box won`t clear the turbo. The a/c is staying and it`s already updated to R134. If I revive the Suburban then I think I`d part`n`sell my`92 K3500,let the Suburban replace it for work.I worked out of the `Burb for a while and only need a ladder rack to be good to go.The`92,I`d take the 6.5TD/NV4500 out and sell it for an excellent builder: *`92 K3500 SRW regular cab *Loaded SLE in Woodland Green (fleet color) w/bucket seat interior *GVW above lift laws...perfect straight axle condidate *Diesel VIN...no emissions testing, run what you want.
