Got my dash painted and guages back in

Well i hit it pretty hard today and last night. I put a anitrattle kit in the windows, all door weather stripping and felt, and rebuilt the running assmy for the window rollers. I should have gotten new vent window rubber, but alas another day. *i'll get some pics tonight*

But my big acomplishment today was getting the dash painted and reassembly started. A few weeks ago i repained the guages and vent housings. THey look good in my opinion. THe steering colum was on the list today also.. I"m tring to go with a black/white interior. I havn't glued the carpet down just yet incase i need to do any major work, then i can still get it out. It all turned out pretty damn good for a rattle can job. Home Depot had a $.99 special on all purpose shiney white. $6 worth did the trick. BUt i had to sand like a monster for about 4 hours this morning. If i decide to actually gun paint the inside, this will at least be a good primer. LOL.... Have gander at me screwing this truck up.. lol

Looks nice! Where did that steering wheel originate? It looks similar to my chevy wheel, yet different.

The blue was 2.99 a can. Thats too rich for my blood. LOL

The steering wheel is out of a 95 or 96 chevy truck. It looks way too bulky for that steering column, but i'll hold on to for a bit longer.

Re: Got my dash painted and guages back in

I just installed an S-10 leather steering wheel that looks similar. Excellent add-on.

And no need to be embarrassed by the type of paint you use. Krylon is great as long as the part will not see extensive direct sunlight.

A suggestion for others and the future is to have a local paint shop mix an aerosol to match your truck color. Do all your primer and touch up with Krylon and then spray the finish with correct color. I am doing this now as I clean up the '71. Works great for interior and under hood parts.
