97 gmc oil pressure sender location?

I cant find the oil pressure sending unit on my 97 k3500, it's got the 454 and auto tranny. The chiltons manual says it should be on the drivers side fron of the block, but nothing is there, and there isn't anything down by the oil filter either. I know it's an all original truck, where should I look?

Thanks!!!
Steve
