A couple of questions.
I have to pull my cowl to put one of those leaf guards in. I thought it would be a good idea to seal the cowl area while I have it pulled, anybody have a pic of where I should be sealing it up? And what should I use, seam sealer? Other question, since I replaced my front fenders and cowl seal, my hood doesn't want to stay down in the back. I think I read on the board that I should trim the cowl seal. I also read that I might have to adjust my hood hinges, what are the steps for adjusting the hinges. Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post...

Hmmm... I don't know about sealing the cowl. I just put in my leaf guard, screwed the cowl back down and was done. If your hood won't sit right in the back, yes you may need to trim that cowl seal, especially if it's a repop. As for adjusting the hinges, I just moved mine around until the hood set right. Don't know if it's the right way to do it, but it worked for me. A 'lil trial and error and i was done. YMMV

Thanks for the reply. I think I have to seal the cowl area cause I have a little bit of water leaking into my cab when it rains, and I suspect the cowl area...

Sinister, a quick tip on the leaf guards is to tie them to the cowl with twist ties or the equivalent.Then put it in place start the screws and then remove the ties.It will help keep the screens in place while you are positioning the hood to cowl seal.

I'm no expert on these trucks, but I wouldn't think that water is coming from the cowl. I would check for rust on the firewall. Reason being is that the cowl area is shaped so that anything liquid would go down toward the kick panel area. Just my .02. I'm surprised no one else has chimed in on this.

My truck has rust holes in the cowl area. There is some type of brace at the outer edges in the cowl area, just before it turns down toward the kick panel vents. Water and debris apparently gets trapped there and causes the rust. I was lucky to notice it - I happened to look through the hole in the firewall for the fresh air door rod and saw light from inside the cab!!!
