71 Parts truck worth it?

Hi all I found a 71 LWB 350/auto(not sure if 350 or 400), tilt column, good tailgate, pretty good bed, cab SHOT(of course its an ac cab), 1 good door for sure, good grill, good hood, double chrome step in the back.

I was looking at this truck maybe to get the disc brake setup off of it. The truck I bought is a 3 on the tree so I wouldnt have a real use for the auto column unless I switched trannies to but I got a buddy who wants to go in half on it mainly for the column.

Question 1. Is it worth 500.00?

2. Someone had a pic posted of how the auto pans looked from the bottom and I cant seem to find the link, can someone steer me toward the pics so I can find out what tranny is in it?

I havent been able to talk with the guy yet he doesnt seem to be ever home, so I dont know why it was parked.

Oh the compressor is gone for the AC and it has original rims and hubcaps.

Thx Steve

You could sell the tilt for 250 alone, and the bed for another 300-500 too. I say jump on it, those two things make your money back, and there is more on it to sell.

Steve,

Offer him $300 and see what he says.
To answer your question, yes it's worth $500. You need the disk brakes! The tilt alone is worth $200 to many others. The tailgate (if real clean) will bring several hundred dollars. Fair bed $100-$200. Other parts will bring additional $$$. If your willing to front the cash, strip it down, advertise on board and ship parts, it's worth it and will bring you a fair return on $$$.

Good luck!

my new 72 beat me to the punch. I must have been typing while he was. He's faster than me I guess. Use our numbers as a gauge only. Prices vary by region. In the salt belt, you will get more for rust free metal. Large metal will be harder to sell/ship. Local guys will be more likely to pick up, than pay shipping.

Thx lilbit, but I wasnt really in the market I just ran across this one about a mile down the road. I just bought a 1970 SWB from BIG ORANGE and I was thinking I probally shouldnt pass on this truck as a possibility for future upgrades to the drum brakes.

What part of VA are you in by the way, I work at a place called Northwest VA

steve, yes i would buy the truck for sure. to determine the tranny from looking at the pan is easy. th-350 pan looks like a square with a corner chipped off, the th-400 pan looks like the state of texas. thats the easiest way
