Big Block price difference?
This has probably been covered before. Did some searching, but didn't find what I was looking for.
How much value does an original big block add to one of these trucks? Compared to a small block or 6cyl. in the same vehicle? I know there are lots of variables, but are big blocks more desirable (as far as a restoration goes?) Just wondering, because I always see the word "rare" mixed in w/the big block trucks in for sale ads.

Re: Big Block price difference?
If its a "numbers match" 1/2 ton big block and the un-doctored SPID says 396, 400, or 402 -- then i would guess that would add 3-5k to the truck unless it is just in beater condition
Big blocks weren't as rare in 71 and 72 as they were in '67-70, and a ton of them went into the 20 series trucks too. I would think a BB would add a grand to the price of a 3/4 ton as a result this is just a guess though, because the truck market is kind of "weird" and hard and fast rules don't apply all the time Big blocks also usually went into the higher optioned trucks, like Sierra Grande's, or Cheyenne Supers and the like , so a big block Cheyenne Super would not be as rare as a big block Custom -10, but would still be worth more because its a super --- you could go on and on with different scenarios. So yes, a big block is sort of rare in a short bed 1/2 ton, but not nearly as rare in a long bed, and not rare at all in a 3/4 ton

Re: Big Block price difference?
Ya I knew this was kind of a difficult question to answer, just b/c of all of the variables. But you pretty much reaffirmed what I thought the answer was. Thanks streetstar!

Re: Big Block price difference?
I would say a big block is "more rare" in any 67-70 1/2 ton regardless of lwb or swb..its just more desirable in the swb the more factory options a truck has the more desirable it is.

Re: Big Block price difference?
I know I personally would pay 3-5000 more for an original BB SWB than a SB SWB, equally optioned.
I think when you talk big dollars it really needs to be the 'right' truck. Low mileage, high option, swb, with a big block is the 'right' truck for me!

Re: Big Block price difference?
a 67 BB would be real rare because they never made them.
