Leaking transmission fluid parked uphill

My 87 chevy truck with the 700r4 is leaking transmission fluid when it's parked uphill. I found this article http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/drivetrain/yokeleak.htm I went to my local Chevrolet dealer and they don't seem to even carry that o-ring? Any recommendations? It's leaking pretty bad.

Do you have a local driveline shop? or Transmission shop?

Any transmission shop will have them, I have them laying around in the shop, somewhere... kinda need them soon or I would send you one. If you cant find one locally send me a PM and I will hook you up with my bud in Charleston SC that builds transmissions, he gets me my transmission parts. He mails stuff to me all the time.

There are many transmission shops around my area, but I've never had to do business with any of them. I tend to be iffy with the shops since I've heard some horror stories about people bringing their car in for a fluid change, and suddenly their transmission is burnt. I plan on doing this replacement myself but I guess I will have to see what people recommend in my area since I don't want to be loured in to having the shop do it, I just want the seal.

You are going to have to go somewhere to get the sealing stuff. I would try the tranny shops and then go to the dealer next.

A few have even recommended that I just plug the weep hole. Not sure if that would be a good solution, but that is where it's leaking from. Many have told me that weep hole does nothing as there is not enough pressure build up in the transmission.

Just buy the o-ring and get it put into the tailshaft housing . Plugging the weep hole only works for a short time until the fluid builds up enough to leak through the ouput shaft seal.

Mine was doing the same thing. You need to take it and have it seviced and tell them to check all the plugs and everything. They said There are plugs in them that can go bad. They look over mine thats how I know this.
