DODGE GUY HERE (don't hate)
I've been checking out this site almost every night at work. I think I'm addicted. I get a lot of helpfull ideas & hints from you guys.
My current project is a.... 68 DODGE CAMPER SPECIAL W/A 383 & DANA 60 REAR END I know, I know, its a DODGE (am i even allowed to say that word in this forum). There is a lack of classic Dodge forums on the net and so far i've learned more from this site than i have any other. Hope you guys don't mind an outcast amongst you asking for help on building my project. I included a pic of my beast. I can't decide if i want to lower it on bags & go all out or just keep it mostly stock with some 22" rims. I would love to sell my Dodge and buy a Chevy (cause i'm in love with your 66 body style or even the 67-72 Suburban ) but the Dodge started as a father/son project & i promised i'd never sell it. So here I am... Last edited by Swifty; 04-16-2008 at 06:51 AM. |

Re: DODGE GUY HERE (don't hate)
Welcome from Northeast TN. I believe you'll find that more than most are here just for the chatting and helping out one another. So it doens't matter what your project is. The basic's applies to all vechicle's.
Oh for my opinion on what to do, just get a nice set of wheels and tires and drive the he** out of it.

Re: DODGE GUY HERE (don't hate)
Is the 383 factory? If not find a 440 and build it! they can scream! Then add the wheels and a custom paint job, and you are well on your way. (but that is what I would do with it.) You have a rather clean looking old truck. The great part about this site is, if someone can help, or has an opinion, they will give it!

Re: DODGE GUY HERE (don't hate)
it came with a 318 and my dad had a 383 sittin in his garage so we naturally used it. When we got the truck it already had the Dana 60 in it. I don't know anything about the truck but i'm learning. I was deciding on either 2 different things.
1. lower it & air bag it, paint flat black w/airbrushed glossy real flames down the side, 18" chrome wheels 2. (this is what i'm leaning torwards cause my dad loves the stock look) Repaint 2 town with blue & white top, 22" chrome wheels, sporty mirrors, aftermarket gauges, clean engine bay, disk brakes, etc. I use the truck to haul wood, brick, cars, my bike, etc. so i still need it for those things. The problem is i don't have any mechanical skills. I can change oil, rims, & other minor things but as far as everything else i'm in the dark. Also being in the military it takes me a little bit to save up for parts. I am looking to restore this truck but not to sure how to do what i want. |
