Thumbs up 283 "Pistons"

Anyone know what kind of piston would be best for a solid stock build-up? It will be in a fleetside half ton, 4 speed. Has anyone dealt with northern auto-parts out of Iowa?

northern auto parts is great, i bought the engine kit for my truck from them. ALOT of people use them, ive heard nothing but good things about them.

i would just go with a stock replacement piston, which probly be a flattop. just tell them what it is and they'll price them out for you.

Agreed! Those kits use all quality stuff and are great for mild rebuilds. I have used them on many engines. I would recommend opting for the Fel-Pro gasket set which is a $8.00 or $10 option.

Re: 283 "Pistons"

Just worked with my first kit from NAP - good stuff IMHO, there are a bunch of upgrades that are worth the $$$ including SpeedPro hypereutectics (if available), brass freeze plugs, Clevite bearings, Cloyes timing chain, etc. The upgrades are pretty cheap individually...but can really add up so "choose wisely"
