New Guy

Just thought I'd say hi. My name is Jason. I'm 27. I live in southern California. Got a couple of squares.

'88 3/4 ton 4x Suburban. 3" Tuff Country lift. 33" Iroks. Other than than, stock as a rock and the most reliable truck I have ever had.

'77 1 ton crew cab dually. 6/8 Western Chassis drop. Future plans call for some Eagle Alloy 129/130's, rebuilt 454/400 & a Gear Vendors OD, stock trim, blazer tailgate band with flipped handle, etc. Picked it up bone stock in December of '07 and dropped it last month.

I've kinda got the bug to build a '73-'78 4x crew cab short bed for my wife when the dually is done. I'm still undecided on 1/2 or 3/4-1 ton running gear. Something tells be it'll be easier to find a 3/4-1 ton crew cab and shorten the frame, than it will to find a 1/2 ton shorty, then find a crew cab, then stretch the frame.

Re: New Guy

Sweet ! You got some nice trucks !

More short/crew conversions I've seen use a crew cab truck to begin with, shorten the frame, then then find a clean short bed and stick it on.

Hi, Jason, I'm Jason, and welcome from Indiana. Nice rides! I particularly like the Burb, I'm a 4 wheel guy. The crew is a nice project also. Keep up the good work on 'em.

Re: New Guy

if i were building the crewcab shorty (like i plan to someday) id do the 3/4 ton or 1 ton crew cab first, find a 87 longbed 4x4 parts truck, and then buy a nice shortstepside bed and get the moderns of fuel injection for the wife, automatic and a good highway gear for gas mileage, yet still a nice looking custom.

Re: New Guy

nice pair, very nice pair. It may be easiest to find a cclb 3/4 2 wheel drive than anything else. Whatever you decide, post progress pics of it.
And welcome to the site
