Something to think about...body panels

As some of you may know, I am in the process of gathering parts and slowly working on my K5. I am really not that close to doing the body work, but I still want to be prepared when the time comes...hopefully in a few months. I know I am going to need pretty extensive repairs on at least one side of my blazer, I would like to just change the whole side of the tub. I have found a real nice rust free short bed with steel floor and tailgate that I can get for around $500 that would have all the parts I would need. My problem is I hate to cut up original metal when I know there is someone out there who REALLY needs it. Should I buy this bed, keep the tailgate, and try to trade it to someone for some nice bed/blazer tubsides + some cash? I know alot of y'all will probably just say "buy it and cut it up and do what you want" but I'm pretty sure I could find someone that is in the middle of a SWB project that would really like to have it. Anyway, I'm just kinda thinking outloud...anybody have any input?

Just remembered that I had a pic of the bed. The camper shell doesn't come with it but it has been on the bed for a while. I guess that helped with the bed rust.

Buy it, try to sell/swap it, and if you don't find a taker by the time you need the parts, use them. It's not so nice that you should feel bad about using it. At least you'll be saving it from the graveyard...

Yeah, its not perfect, it has a couple of dings here and there. It is just hard to find one that rust free around here. You have a good point though. Buy it now and ask questions later. If only my better half had the same philosophy to my junk collection...

Is it hard to find rust free stuff in Texas? - You should try Ohio -

Rust free always turns into a great story when you go to look at cars/trucks/heck anything up here...

I say use the bed - rust free blazer tubs are about as rare as the SWB beds if you ask me...
