truck front stance
I know this is the 67-72 board but I have run into something on my 64 chevy that you guys might have seen before. I did the front end conversion to a 76 model with disc brakes, power steering, power brakes, etc. Now that everything is back together, it looks like my stance is almost level compared to the front rake that originally came out on these trucks. My question is, if I put in lowered springs or spindles, will there be clearance issues when it comes time to hit the alignment shop? What would put my stance back closer to original, and why is the stance different at all?

Difference in stance might have something to do with the 20+ years newer coil springs. I wouldn't think there would be any clearance problems or alignment problems, unless you tried to go to one of those shops that only knows how to do stuff by reading it out of a book. I.E. - the '76 specs on a '64 might throw some for a loop.

I got a similar result when I swapped a '75 cross member under my '68. I'm undecided as to whether it is the new springs or just a difference in the spindle/spring/arms combination. Regardless, you can swap the springs or spindles to lower your truck without any clearance issues. You've got enough room in the fender well to lower it and raise a litter of kittens with room to spare.
I've mostly looked at going with the spindle drop myself. My hang up is it is still a truck and when I'm taking it hunting, ditches tend to not be lowered friendly. I was really wondering about the upper A arm clearing the frame properly if shims needed to be removed to line it up. I noticed that on the 76 model, the frame has a deeper depression in the area of the upper A arm. I really don't want the A arm to rub the frame. Thanks for all your help guys.

If you go with drop spindles, you won't change anything as far as the A-arms are concerned. The alignment will be the same.
