A total of 4259 4X4 1/2 ton Burbs were made in 68.

and a total 299 4X4 3/4 ton Burbs were made.

Sorry, that's all I have. The book lists a bunch of install rates for most options but not barn doors on the Burbs.

CST was for the trucks only right? The highest trim level in 68 Burbs was Custom as far as I know.

That Burb looks to be in nice shape.

Hi Paul, man that's a nice looking burb you just got. Hope your trip to pick it up went ok. What's your plans for it? I'll talk to you latter, Tom.

Paul, are you sure it is a "CST" and not a "Custom" ? My 68 data book shows no CST option for any of the burbs, 2wd or 4wd, but it shows the "Custom" option. The metal emblem on your door should say "Custom" (From what I can see in your pictures, it is the "Custom Emblem")

I assume that your truck is either a 525 (Saddle)or 555(Two Tone Saddle and White) paint code?

Nice looking burb by the way.

It says Z84 on the option sticker and wears Custom badges on the door with CST buckets. So that CST question is in the air.
The worst of the damage to the body is pictured as the passenger side is in better shape and all rusted areas have been striped to metal at this point to examine it for extent of repairs needed. Our plans for her are Rodsteration.
I get our data on production #'s this time from my
Chevrolet Red Book ( No Longer in print )
I have another Chevrolet book here somewhere that lists production figures but I can't remember the name of it off hand, I do know that it filled the gaps in info we find in our Red Book but its been probably a year or more since I remember seeing it.
Odd that you show 4259 1/2ton 4X4 burbs made in 1968 Tom as that would mean in 1968 there were twice as many 4X4 burbs made than most all of the other possible body styles and wheelbases and more than LWB Fleetsides
Heres what our data shows for 1968 1/2 ton 4X4
43- Chassis Cab Short Wheel Base
1,706- Stepside SWB
1,449- Fleetside SWB
552- Stepside Long wheel Base
59- Panels
1,143- Suburbans w/rear doors
3,625- Fleetside Long Wheel Base

Very wierd. Z84 would definately be the code for the CST model. Who knows what chevy dealers put on the order sheets. Maybe it was entered in the office on the build sheet, but was never built as a CST. Your truck is also missing things that would come with the CST package, example: CST badges, chrome bumper, etc.... The buckets seats could be ordered in the burb with code A50. In the burbs and panels, the buckets were like the CST buckets, but the center seat/console did not have the back. Is that the way yours are set up?

What ever the history is on it, it definately is a nice conversation piece.

Was compiled by Peter Sessler, who had help from Chevrolet Motor Division Records, and several individuals that worked at GM at the time it was put together in 1993
Was published by Motobooks International, discontinued from print in 2001
