okay, here i go

i have a 1969 chevy c-10 8-1/2ft bed w/coils all around 250L6 with a 3 on the tree floor shift convert. needs cab corners, rockers, floors, and cab mounts along with some other repair over the wheel wells in the back.

frame is mint with no soft spots, fires up every time when i stick a bettery into it...idle is a little off because the carb is in dire need of a rebuild

i am the 2nd owner, i bought it with 142k from a guy who bought it brand new. i have the original papers, manual, and the little card from the dealer

i paid 200 for it plus 50 for the tow...

no actual new pics as i have had this about a yr and a half and finally decided to hurry because it needs nothing but body work and my s-10 commited suicide last week

Welcome chevyfan87.. I don't know if it has been driven lately or not but I think the first thing I would do is check the brakes and safety equipment. Especially if you are planning on driving it while you work on it. Sounds like you got a good deal on it though. Check the paint on the firewall around the master cylinder to see if it is peeling off, if it is the master cylinder may be leaking and need replaced. Check all of the fluids. Radiator, engine, tranny, rear end, power steering, master cylinder, Etc.

well, ive had it for a while, brakes are good no leaks stops on a dime...which is odd since it has manual brakes. it leaks oil but if it passes state inspection i dont care...manual transmission and steering so, i think the safety equipment is all set i just need to mount my seats (highback buckets, the bench was complete toast)

rear suspension sags a bit too, planning on doing a swap for leafs most likely, and eventually my 350 (from a 78 BOO...(malibu) with a th-350 trans with a holeshot converter and b&m z-gate floor shift) any input on anything will be sweet because this is my first real project of my own, though i have helped with a few ive never done a chevy pickup resto...maybe thats because chevy's dont break usually...hrmm

Nice truck. Why are you going to swap to leaf springs? Sounds like more hassle then it's worth...

rear suspension sags, and it seems easy, drill for the shackles on the frame, ubolts to the axle....seems pretty straightforward

any input on that would be cool though, also never had to replace e-brake cable before, what is involved?

what about rocker/cab corner replacement? needs to be dont but the ones i bought seem as though they dont just slide over or anything, they have a lip perventing them from sliding on and they dont line up perfect

i was thinking about cutting the lip off the edge and cutting out the rot and welding or riveting them over the old metal (painted and everything underneath to prevent further rot)

input? im in a hurry now, the plan is lots of bondo, and primer and stick it together for the street and do the little stuff while i use it as my DD

you mention that the suspention is sagging...you check the shocks out? air shocks may be the ticket

ok so as I gather just a lowbuck beater right? the old rockers and cab corners are supposed to be cut out and the replacements cut to fit and welded in....I hate bondo personally..it leads to worse cancer thats just my opinion but good luck man

im not going for a beater, i just dont have enough money to do it up right....as much as i would love to, the only bondo should be just a skim to clear up the lines from the new panels, and the stuff over the rear wheel wells, that should be it

backup light switch ready to set up
horn button almost ready to install

have 2 of 4 tires
