results from the track last night

first pass= all motor
14.3 with a 2.0 60' at 90mph.
hooked so hard the truck almost died,just ran outta nuts up top.

2nd pass= 200 shot
12.1 with a 1.7 60' at 106 mph
didnt grab the unit until like 20ft out.so i figured id do it sooner the next time and up the pills

3rd pass=200 shot outta the hole
12.3 with a 2.0 60' at 106mph
spun as the track prep got worse throughout the night

4th pass= 250 shot
12.2 with 2.0 60' at 109mph
spun its a$$ off but pulled harder than ive ever felt

overall great night at the track,met a fellow board member. proof of the budget build.he seen the junkyard monster

i was impressed for what the motor is.on motor its nothing special.but on bottle.the damn thing wont die.with all the bottle im showing it,it shoulda left the rods at the track.i need to do my susp. ive got the stuff laying around just busy to put it on.

thanks, ya,kinda. i was at the local junkyard,pulled a engine and took it home.ripped the heads off.its a stock crank and rods but it had hypereutectic speed pros.

Nice job Couch.. Nate and I were talking a little about you the other day. I have a couple of changes I am doing to my trucks suspension. I'll post some stuff when I get it done. I think it might help you too

Also, I was looking at the front of my truck with no bumper. I am going to be adding a little bit of sheetmetal under the grill area to the cross member. I think you and I might be trapping a lot of air there and might pick up form that change. I know running a small piece like that on a 4rth gen F-body actually helps.

thanks.i strongly agree with the trapped air deal.any direction you could steer me with suspension would be greatly appreciated. i was considering getting it 4 corner weighed and hitting you up with the facts cause you seem to know your stuff pretty well. i wanna do moroso trick fronts and get some travel in the rear. it hooks fairly well until it slams bumpstops and then unloads the rear.

So the rear is squating, hitting the bumps? If that's the case, build some adjustable lower brackets like I did and move that ICG point up to gain antisquat vs squat at the track.

Really all I need is front weight to try and help you on the front spring. So if you have a local scale, weigh the front with you in it. When is the big block going in? Are you wanting a spring that will take that in to consideration (riding front high for a while).

the rear is squating. but it sits like only an inch from the stops. i will see what i can do about getting it weighed soon. the big block is going into another truck. once i get it all together the nitrous is coming off the small block truck so i can finally have a daily driver that i dont beat up daily.lol.

we trailered it to the track with the intention of blowing it up.but the d@mn engine wont die.lol. it should be dead by now.it does however have a tits a$$ nitrous tune that i think is a big part of it staying alive,that and race gas and timing pulled out.

as far as the roll pan goes. ive looked into them.theres just something about how they look thats not appealing to me.Dj congrats with the pass time run.cant wait to see it.

I have hypers in mine........ keep it fat and you should be fine........don't let it lean out...... I read a artical one time about a guy with a mustang that had over 500 passes on a set of hypers before it broke. when it did it was because the came broke????????? he said "keep it fat" and the pistons will be fine........ but he drove a mustang whats he know..........

lol.ya its tuned fat and safe,that and i never show it more then 6k rpm. its had over 30 bottles ran through it lol.the d@mn thing just keeps on tickin

Be careful too fat is worse than too lean! You can lift the ring land off the piston!

For me I have a one piece fiberglass frontend & I do like the "roll pan" not only for the smooth look but also the weight reduction.

Being I will be running on the street I do plan to make a "tube bumper" much like the ones used on the "gassers" of days gone by....
also prefer "stepsides" ..... "different strokes for different folks".... but in the end "love 'em all"....

im a fan of the stepsides too. thats why mine has remained one through the years. the rollpans are ok, they just take away from the old school look,its just very noticeable. i used to just pull the bumper when it came to racing, then i realized how often i pulled it off and left it off for the past year or so

Thos glass fronts must shave a ton of weight. I pulled my hood off today then unbolted the front as one piece. My buddy helped me lift it off and the front came up about 2". Wish I had a way to weigh it as a full unit.

yeah, i hear ya on that note. maybe on my BBC truck will i do the fiber front end, but not on my daily driver.that and right now i cant afford it.

If I didn't already have the glass I would still be steel. I wish I knew someone that did acid dipping to reduce weight of the steel parts.

Yeah the glass frontend is much lighter. When I set it up on the truck for the 1st time (by myself) I couldn't get over how much the suspension sat up compared to when it had the steel on it. The truck has a
3 inch drop currently and with the fiberglass frontend on it it looks like it isn't even lowered.

Got the frontend (US Bodyworks.... their customer service SUCKS!!! ) & a performance truckarm rear suspension setup from another member of the Chevy Trucks Forum (check it out @: http://www.hotrodstohell.net/truckar...uckarm_c10.htm )

I am still in the "parts collecting" stage & little by little I'm buying up what I need to build a kick a** like the ones I see listed on the pages of this forum's race section.
