Yeah, I have looked into BIO, but, my dad drives a diesel and he was trying to get into making BIO-fuel and he tried EVERY restaurant to get there grease. NONE of them would give it up. They all had people contracted to dispose of it. around here, its easier to just risk getting caught burning farm fuel.

As is said before...why don't you just get the motor that is in there up and running...then later on down the road swap in another motor - as a plus you can sell a running motor for more when it runs rather than just sitting.

Why don't you just put in a 454 or 350, both make great torque with a little bit of cash, and at least out here in Los Angeles they are way more plentiful than a caddy 500?

The engine in there now will run and drive. Its just WAAAAY under powered for the truck. Why dont I put in a 454 or a 350? Simply because, I like to be different. And, I have read on here about how much torque a caddy engine makes and thats my main goal. Torque.

(not to sound like an ass, but...) All in all, Its my truck and my opinion. If I wanted a SBC or a BBC I would put one in it. But I'm not. I'm either going BB Caddy, or 5.9 Cummins. I will probably do the Caddy then do the Cummins later.

I think that your taking my advice the wrong way...I am all for original and different...but original and different comes with a cost (and although I have no idea what your budget is - my summer job at 14 netted me about 1500 dollars total). I would just hate to hear 3 or 4 months down the road that you got started doing the swap only to run out of money half way through it.

Now if low down torque is what you really want and you want to go different - the caddy will definitely work for you. But seriously, how often do you find a good running caddy 500 that isn't coming with a sub 1000 dollar asking price?
(maybe there are dime a dozen out in the mid-west...just a stock running 454 goes for about 800 out here)

Again... I am not trying to discourage original thinking or trying to be a d*ck...I just want to offer advice about the challenge of doing a motor swap on a budget if you don't take into account every-single nut and bolt before you start.

I probably should have mentioned that 2 years ago my grandpa acquired a hearse with a 500 in it. I'm gonna try and see if I can have the engine out of it for free or cheep.

gotcha - if you got the motor go for it - I would still go through all the steps I listed in my original post, just instead of the I6 apply the steps to the 500
