Hydro Assist is in>>>

Well this is what I ended up with, so far it works great. Did a test run to Hollister a few weeks back and all is fine. Easy easy steering and no belt slippage or sqeeeling

Burt,if you don`t mind I need to pick your brain on this set-up for when I get there on my shortbed.I just have the Dana60 and haven`t started with steering.I haven`t even gone through the axle, yet.

Re: Hydro Assist is in>>>

I'm with Special K. Got some questions also. Any problems with clearance with the crossover steering/dana 60/and flat leaf springs? Do you think it would clear with flat leafs without the 4" lift?

Re: Hydro Assist is in>>>

I have no clearence issue now, but I did in the begining. WFO Concepts is were I got my steering arms and x-over links. Trevor @ WFO worked with me week after week to get the right combination of parts to clear my short lift and 454/D60. He and I played package tag until it was right = he would send me parts and I would send back parts, back and forth until I had a working system. Awesome customer service and never asked for an extra dime for all the additional shipping
Anyway I personally think a crossover setup is going to require some sort of lift for the draglink to clear. I am running a HighSteer tierod = above the axel. With stock lift I doubt a highsteer tierod would clear, so the facotry tierod infront of the axel would be used with the crossover, if it will it with no lift???????????
I am no expert on steering geometry, I only know what I learned from my doing my setup....
here is the other side:

Re: Hydro Assist is in>>>

That`s just how I want mine...high steer and all.I have 6" EZ-rides.So I`d be good on clearance.
Let`s start with the steering gear.Exactly what one did you use?I tell ya what...Do you think you could list from the steering box to the steering arms exactly who`s what you used???
You did all the R&D on this and I guess a bit of T&A,I mean,T&E(as in trial & error).I know it`s been done before. But,we have the same thing as you, pretty much.

Re: Hydro Assist is in>>>

Ok, well I started with ordering from PSC:
I got the Hydro Assist Kit for crossover, came with ram/hoses & fittings/PS pump & resavior/gear box:

Made me a braket to mount the resavior

WFO originally sent me the arms that put the tierod(highsteer) behind the axel but my BBC oil pan was in the way, see the long double arm on the right.

So here I am trying to make the new arms work that put the tierod infront of the axel, the pitman arm coming off the gear box is too long so the drag link ran into the tierod. See how the tierod is resting on the wood, not lining up with the steering arm ontop of the kingpin.

Ahhh much better with a shorter pitman arm, WFO sent me 4 to pick from and this one did the trick.

Most drag links are bent like this one but due to my short lift this design was not gonna work as well as a stright draglink would.

Straight draglink and highsteer in front of the axel were the two main changes with my setup, well shorter pitman arm too.
The PSC stuff went right in with ease and none of it leaks!
Hope this helps

The beauty with working with WFO is Trevor will customize the set up to work with your rig..it not like you buy the kit then your on your own making it work..A++ Customer service...tellum Burt sent you and you want a similar setup

Re: Hydro Assist is in>>>

Oh ya the WFO arms I posted above eliminate the kingpin spring. Instead of a spring pushing down on the white colar in the kingpin a small stack of shims smashes down when you tighten up the arm to the D60. This completly eliminates "death wobble" or the chance of having it. No springs to deflect so no DW

You know he got rid of the shims now? He has a pre-load set screw now. Mine arms are going back for modification.
