Normal trans temp reading
I just got through install an new transmission(2004R) in one of my trucks. I have a trans temp sensor in the pan and was wonder what the normal temp reading should be.

I don't remember right off hand, but bowtie overdrives does. I got parts from them for my 200 4r conversion in my 72 GMC. Check their site it might be on there. www.bowtieoverdrives.com

175-200 is optimal, iirc. My TH350 got up around 225 beating on it on a really hot day, behind a moderate 355. I had a really old bent up external cooler on it at the time.

250 -260 is where you need to start to worry about burning up the tranny.
