What is the cad plated hoop for ???

My 70 1/2 ton 2wd has a cad plated horseshoe bracket bolted to the top of the drivers side frame rail between the fire wall and the upper A arm.It is about 4" long and rises about 2 " above the frame rail. What is this bracket for??? I couldn't tell when I disassembled the truck and now am wondering if I need it as I reassemble? Any help will be appreciated.

That is a fix for motor mounts that could break and cuase the accelerator to stick wide-open. Not sure if it was a recall or voluntary. There would have been a cable attached to another bracket on driver side of engine. The purpose was to prevent torque from shifting the engine out of place. Remember in 67-70 these trucks had a stiff rod linkage to carb, not a cable one as used in 71-up.

I've seen NOS ones on ebay before

Thanks, so It is a torque strap like they used to use on a muscle car. I think I'll take my chances and eliminate it. Thanks again.
