4x4 power steering on my 2wd 60- Help!

I've just got a power steering box which i thought was from a 1/2 ton 2wd truck. It did'nt come with a pitman arm though and when i looked into getting one i noticed the steering box i have requires a pitman arm with the "clamp" type fitting and NOT the nut type which there usually is. I now believe this box came from a 4x4 and i'm not sure whether i can find a pitman arm to fit it and work with my 60 Panel. Can anybody shed any light on this please
Steve.

If it came from a 4x4 it will not work. A 4x4 box moves in a push, pull motion as a 2 wd box works in a side to side motion.

That is the case on a manual steering gear box, but the 2wd and 4x4 boxes are the same, except for the pitman arm and mounting. I just completed a 4x4 power steering conversion on a '66 Chevy K10 and I ended up purchasing a new power steering gear box.

The 4x4 power steering steering gear box will work for the power steering conversion on your '60 Chevy Panel, you just need the correct pitman arm that will receive the shaft on your power steering gear box. Any Chevy 4x4 with power steering from the late 60's thru the late 80's will work and they are very abundant from the scrap yard or try www.carsteering.com.

re: 3/4 ton gear: I've never asked the question when I purchased one, so I would assume that they would work.

as a suggestion, check the part# for autozone/napa/advance etc., for both 1/2 and 3/4 ton
