gage cluster conversion

I just did the idiot light to gage dash conversion per the instructions on GMCPauls website. Everything except the battery gage works and the instructions were easy to follow. I did not run the new wires for pins 1 and 12 because of the following concern. My truck has had the junction block by the battery removed but if I remember it was just a positive wire from the battery. My alternator has also been changed and the12g red wire runs to the positive side of the battery. If I understand the instructions, I will have two positive wires going to the gage. This don’t seem right so I skipped it until I could get verification. Can anyone please confirm or correct my understanding of this. One more question is, what gage wire should I use for the battery gage wires?

Re: gage cluster conversion

I think you are correct - I eliminated the terminal on the fender as it was a constant arc spot (I hit it with everything) - it's where my fusible links were attached. Anywho, I ran a wire from the + on the battery and another from a junction near the alternator (also +) - I haven't hooked them up to the dash just yet though. I think I ran 12ga. but can't be sure.
