gas tank boil? filter? opinion
The truck has been sitting for 2 or 3 years. I just put a new engine in it. I put a filter before and after the fuel pump and ran 5 gallons thru it. Engine runs good.
The filter before the pump collected dirt. I want to take it off because its over the exhaust and I heard it could cause a vapor lock situation. I'm wondering if it collected all the dirt in the tank. Should I take the tank out and get it cleaned and boiled? Is the quadrejet filter enough? |

Re: gas tank boil? filter? opinion
I would remove that inline filter that is before the pump, it can cause vapor lock, not so much from the exhaust heat, but from the reduced pressure it creates, which in turn, lowers the boiling point.
installing one on the pressure side of the fuel line (after the pump) is a great idea. As for your tank, does it actually have crap in it? |

About 1/4 of the filter had dirt in it.

Will the fuel pump be o.k. if I just run a filter after it? I was thinking it should be filtered before going thru the pump to prevent damage or failure.

"When in doubt,call out!"
That is a quote from an old Maintainence tech I worked with. In your case "When in doubt, boil it out!"
