Question Installing a A/C into non A/C cab?

Has anyone done this before? I have everything out of a A/C cab and want to install it into my non A/C cab. Does anyone have directions ,diagrams, advice? Trying to make it as painless as possible.

Thanks,

Do a search on this topic.....it's been discussed and you should find useful information.

I am in the process currently myself. I cut out the firewall section from a donor A/C cab and welded it in place. I plan on cutting the holes out of my current dash. If this fails then I will use the donor dash as well.

Did you get the A/C wiring harness also?

It is very doable. The firewall holes are different and it would be best to swap them out as Charlie mentioned. Make sure you have all the pieces from the donor. There are several small pieces that I missed the first time like the vent door, the flapper up in the cowl, and the little clamps under the battery box for the hoses. I would recommend buying all new o- rings as the old ones will tend to leak if reused.

I did this last Fall. Be ready for a lot of work. The firewall was the tricky part. You have to cut new holes and weld old ones. I be glad to help with questions. I dont have any pic's. I could take finished ones if that would help.

Cool YES NON AC/to FACTORY AC

[B]I did this sometime ago, and it has worked very well here in the southeast for me. It is how ever very time consuming. you have to re-cut the fire wall and then plug up the old holes partly and then change out everything inside under the dash. Cut holes for the vents. You have to get the ac wiring for the switches, the controler. I also up graded mine to a 80's model truck air system about 5 years ago and went with 134-A and the acumlator, did away with the POA valve. Take a look at this picture and you will see it cleared the fender up pretty good I think. /B]

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
