Chassis Cleaning.
Does anyone know the best way to go about cleaning and painting the chassis on a 69'? I bought some Marine Clean and POR 15 Chassis paint. I just want to make sure that I am on the right track. And also, to clean most of the rust off, is it better to just pressure wash and paint or use a sander or angle grinder then paint? Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

The nice thing about the POR15 is you don't have to strip it. A wire brush and wire wheel to get dirt off, then power wash it and you're good to go.

another very effective although caustic means is to use a good quality oven cleaner, it will loosen grease and oil very effectivley. just be careful of rubber and aluminum components and read the directions on the can.

Oven cleaner will also eat powdercoating. That stuff is far too toxic for my liking.
