The day couldn't suck much worse--wrinkled the '69
To put it as succinctly as possible, I was driving halfway across the county in commute traffic for jury duty.
Traffic stopped and I jumped on the binders. The ol' Chevy started to come around and before I could gather it up, the feller in the next lane got me. Certainly not his fault, I was using all of my lane and part of his and had him pinched down pretty good between me and the median barrier. It pretty much tore up my left front fender, ruined the bumper and outer grille & head light bezel, knocked the head light bucket out of the core support, & probably bent the core support. My driver's door isn't closing right, so I hope I didn't wreck any of the underpinnings. His van had some minor sheet metal damage to the right front fender and a flat right front tire. The really good news is, nobody got hurt. Both vehicles were driven from the accident. (after roadside assist changed his tire) I'm done whining now. I think I'll go outside and pull my bumper & outer grille and see if I can get the headlight half a$$ed reinstalled. Oh, yeah, the county was nice enough to reschedule my jury duty to Thursday.

Construction is dead around here. I worked 6 days last month. And, I'm not being a smart a$$, thanks for your input. I was just looking for a place to vent my frustrations, so I came here. I knew I could get a sympathetic ear.

That really blows- trying to do your civil service and look what you get!
That's not exactly what happened here, but just trying to give sympathy.

Sinister,
Would you come up & learn me how to beat it to fit; paint it to match? I'm sorry. I just couldn't resist.

I ain't beating myself up. I just thank the Lord that nobody got hurt & it's only bent sheet metal, on both vehicles. Cruise on over anyway. My place is way cheaper than any Motel 6, and it's all American, not French. We can tip a few while checking out the fender and say, "Dang, ain't that a bee-otch!" I love this site!!!

Re: The day couldn't suck much worse--wrinkled the '69
Maybe we could go back 2 plan A and take the bumper of CJ's '71 and put it on your '72, and put her new bumper on the '71? Or we can stick to plan B and drink with Uncle Ron... maybe both.

Sorry to hear of the accident, hope everything turns out ok.
Wish I was closer, I would come and tip a few and talk trucks and stuff. Construction is slowing down out this way also, but not real bad. High gasoline prices are starting to get a strangle hold on people because a lot of people have to travel to find work and most jobs don't pay a lot. Danny |
