My inner fenders

Welp, I just though I would share some pics of the inner fenders that I built for the front of my truck. I confirmed just the other day that is lays frame on 20's with just a 1.5" raised crossmember and upper plates. I've got a lot of time into the inner fenders so far, and ALOT to go still, but just thought I would share to show you guys it is possible to keep your inner fenders!

Re: My inner fenders

Will that method only allow for the xtra clearance @ a stand still since they still bolt-in in the original locations on the inner fender?

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: My inner fenders

you know, I haven't tried to turn the wheels yet... But It shouldn't be a problem at ride height. I normally air my truck all the way to go around corners anyway. I'll let you know more once I get it back from the body shop and have my wheels in hand.

Those look nice, curious about the turning radius. Keep us posted!

Re: My inner fenders

I've been thinking about this a little, and the inside of the inner fenders is only about an 1-1/2 away from where the inside of the fenders is at the most. My wheels have 5.25 back spacing.... my old one only had 4.5 without inner fenders and they NEVER rubbed. It will be close, but I think it will be ok. If not, I guess I just won't be scraping around corners, so no big deal. I'm just sick of picking rocks off of my intake manifold, and with the new paint job I don't want to take the risk of denting my hood from the inside.

I'm definitely not taking away from your efforts & I understand the logic. I was just curious if you built 'em for turning radius or not. Even if they're not, I prefer the front tires to not be exposed from under-hood when parked @ shows & the modified OE's would work. Nice job. . .....

I don't yet, but all in due time. Fenders should be on it next time I go check it out - I'll snap some then. Probably will head out there on Thursday or Friday.

Hey trav, what size tires you running front and rear? Pm me.

Re: My inner fenders

You've done a ton of work on that truck. Looking good! I really like the idea of reworking the stock inner fenders versus using trailer fenders. I bet it's alot more work, though.

What do you have in mind for final color? Will it look like your current avatar?

Re: My inner fenders

I hated the trailer fender look as well. It doesn't even have side too it with those and it is still all open to the engine compartment.

I have a lot of time into them as they are and they are no where near perfect. They will serve their purpose purpose, but I would do it different next time around.

My avatar is what it will look like pretty much exactly. Probably lower when laid out though.
