A compressor is something you don't want to skimp on.

I guess i just meant cheap as in not top of the line expensive, not dirt cheap junk. I don't care about fast inflate times and i don't need it to be chrome. Just want one that is reliable, relatively quiet if possible for budget, and on the lower end of the pricing. I've seen several different ones on ebay for cheap and don't know if any are worth it. I am open to suggestions and input. Thanks for all the info so far.

I ran rear bags on my 68 for almost 2yrs w/o a comp or tank. It wasn't an issue but I only adjusted the height when I attached the trailer to tow something.

Once I started using my trailer more frequently, I used a small 2-gal tank w/a Thomas 315 compressor & a dual needle gauge/pnuematic contoller. They got the job done for 5yrs of use. I did upgrade to new stuff during its rebuild (new 3-gal alum tanks x2 & new Thomas 317's x2 'cause I'm 4whl air now) but the old stuff still worked fine.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

What did you do when you needed to tow something? Air up before you left? I have been searching the site and can't find a good writeup of everything i need to do a successful swap. Can someone please list what i need for
  1. Airbags on all four corners w/ a tank and no compressor (List things i need like air lines, weight of bags (will four 2600's work) and cups/hardware needed
  2. Airbags on all four corners with tank and compressor and all other necessary hardware.

That way i can check the classifieds here and evilbay and piece together a system. I just can't justify the expense of a kit at this time.
