Wiring Harness...who makes?

I've been looking to purchase a dash harness and had narrowed my choices to American Autowire (AAW Factory Fit from Musclerodz) and M & H from GMCPauls. I had downloaded the AAW and M&H catalogs and just noticed that they both use the same harness part numbers in their respective catalogs.

So now what I'd like to know is who actually makes the harnesses, AAW or M&H? Anybody know for sure?

Mark

Just curious, if it's the same harness, why does it matter?

Re: Wiring Harness...who makes?

I just put all new M&H harnesses in my 68. They were very well made and straight forward. I ordered mine with the HEI upgrade, but I still had to put a jumper in on my voltage regulator plug to get my one wire alternator to work. If I remember correctly it was from brown to blue and it works like a charm.

If you buy direct from the "manufacturer", the prices are the same. But with different vendors on this board who sell AAW and M&H, the prices are different, not by much but $60 is $60. I guess like you were curious as to why it matters, I was curious as to who actually made the harness. I've nothing but good about both AAW and M&H and now I know why.

Re: Wiring Harness...who makes?

Too my knowledge, M&H makes there own harnesses. Maybe they sell them to AAW. I started using M&H years ago, and have never had any problems. I bought mine from http://www.mothertruckers.net/

I think he might be a vendor on here as well. I found his wiring prices to be better.

Re: Wiring Harness...who makes?

Long story short, M&H and AAW used to be partners many years ago and today each are manufacturers of their own products. Price between the two are kept almost identical. Deals are to be had through their dealers. If you call us, we will give discounts to board members.

Thanks Mike. I knew you would have the answer. So are they the same or different harness and if they are the same, which one makes them? I know it's not very important as I have heard great things about both, just curious.

Thanks,
Mark

They both make their own original harnesses and there is no difference when looking at the two. The differences in the companies come with some of the other products they carry. AAW has been our favorite because of their Update Harnesses and customer support has been excellent so far. We also use their products regularly and have had zero issues so far.

Re: Wiring Harness...who makes?

I havecomplete M&H kit in the 71 and have no issues. Also have complete set of AAW for the 72 no known issues -truck is still apart so it may be a while, why 1 one each? I used a different vender for the second set and they now carry only AAW. Price is good pats match what I took out - same stuff.

Re: Wiring Harness...who makes?

Not to upstage any member or vendor, but I bought my harness directly from M&H. They are on the web at www.wiringharness.com. Helpful folks if you need to talk to them on their 1-800 number, too.

Re: Wiring Harness...who makes?

Do the under dash harness have all the correct connectors or do you have to pin everything?

Everything I have purchased from M&H has been top shelf and a perfect fit, factory look.

M&H has an underdash harness that has all the factory connectors but uses the the new style ATO blade type fuse block instead of the factory glass type fuse block. That's what has led me to M&H.
