3 in the tree to floor shifter?

Finally got a shortbox, '68 c-10. Saginaw 3-speed still in it and the previous owner has attached an indy shifter thru the floor but it doesn't seem to engage reverse and only moves in a strait line back and forth. Does anyone know of an aftermarket shift kit that would give me some kind of an "H" pattern on the floor? I know I should probably get a 4-speed out of a camaro or something but $$$

Skip the kit you can get at OR's....it's junk. We put one in Bill's son's truck and it was an nightmare of an installation. Get a very good aftermarket shifter. You should be able to find a few out there on the web....google!

I believe Hurst makes a shifter called the Hurst Indy 3spd truck shifter that may be what you want. Can you snap a pic of the linkages you have now it sounds like they may just be worn out or out of adjustment.

I asked this same questiona few weeks ago... if you want the "best" shifter purchase the MasterShifter from Hurst for the conversion.... It si a little spendy however.. about 300 bucks for the shifter and install kit...

It'll be more money but worth it in the long run plus installs perfectly.

Re: 3 in the tree to floor shifter?

Are you sure it has all the linkage parts present and properly adjusted?

Sounds to me like it could be hung up. Crawl under ther truck and pull the 2 linkages to get it unstuck. If its doing this its either worn out or out of adjustment.
