Will the stock tach work with HEI??

So will it? Mine was converted to HEI before I bought it. The tach was unpluged from the cap. I pluged it in and it will hardly move. Has my tach gone bad? Could it be a bad ground? Or something else???

Talking

Stock tachs will definately work with the HEI distributors. Something must be wrong with your tach.

I agree that it should work.

On that note, the guy I bought my '72 K10 'burb from said that he had tried to convert it to HEI, but the tach wouldn't work,so he put it back.

All i can say is make sure that your connections are tight, and you are on the 'tach' terminal of the distributor...

I've got the original tach with '76 original (Autozone) HEI, works great, "tach" terminal is labled on distributer.

Cool Tach/ HEI

There are quite a few things it could be.

1. Could be a bad ground.
2. The terminal in the HEI is not hooked right. (inside the coil)
3. The tach itself needs adjusting.
4. Tach could be broke(wires crossed on tach)
5. Connector is bad on distrbutor

You wouldn't believe the stuff I found on mine when I bought it. People do some of the darndest things.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
