Wow, never heard of that. Is there a AAA back there? That is how I have and LOVE them. NEVER have I had a problem with insurance. Good Luck. But seriously look into AAA.

Re: insurance and vin issues

I go through that with Geico every time when I renew my policy on my DD, a 92 Dodge Ram conversion van. They say the same s*** about the VIN, but when I call them on the phone they work through it somehow. I say their database is whack!

Re: insurance and vin issues

If you think that is bad, on a 25 yr old vehicle? ...........Buy a new car and get the same thing.
Last June I bought a new HHR with the Panel option. It was one of the first ones sold. Not only did the insurance company freak-out, so did the bank! When they ran the VIN with the factory, they were told that this number didn't exist in the registry? I came to understand that none of the "Panels" had registered numbers yet. They all worked it out, but I was very uneasy for a few days. The funny thing was that the dealership tranfered my plates from my S-10 and the BMV didn't catch this at all.

Re: insurance and vin issues

When I entered the Vin on my 79 on one of those vin decoding sites it said my number wasn't long enough. I figured it was just crappy. I have alstate and any time I have any problems I call my agent here in town and she take care of everything, of course it helps that I work with and are good friends with her husband.

Re: insurance and vin issues

id get on the phone with them and calmly tell them they are being recorded and that a copy of the recording will be sent to the state insurance board they will figure out something
Ive heard all kinds of excuses and all and when you threaten them with the state they tend to back off

Re: insurance and vin issues

I had my truck insured through AIG and they didn't have any issues. But I have an issue with what they want to charge me now that I dropped the truck (can't drive it right now) and bought an '05 G6. My rate went from $300 to almost a grand. I did a quote online with a few other places and they were charging $400 or less. So, I had my agent try to find me a lower rate, but I haven't heard anything yet.

Re: insurance and vin issues

Oh, yeah....It's awesome. I went from a '98 S-10 and my insurance rate changed very little. The S-10 had very low miles for it's age, so I got a good deal.....on a really cool ride.
You certainly can't "blend in" to the crowd with that thing though. I get stopped by people all of the time.
