She has paint!!
so the marathon build continues as I get ready for the Midwest Meet (link's in my sig for details). spent a ton of time friday and friday night doing some last minute sanding, then the paint started to fly around 1pm on sat.
next weekend the re-assembly starts. If all goes as planned, we'll be driving it home on memorial day. Here's how she sits right now: my build thread has all of the details of how i got this far, and what's on the plate for next weekend.

Re: She has paint!!
What do you call that color?...J/K...It looks good so far. Can`t go wrong with red. It`s got to feel good getting to this point.More people can appreciate what you`ve put into it now that it`s a pretty (hot) color.

Looks great! If I remember correctly you have a Megashifter in your truck right??? If you are the member I'm thinking of, can you post a pic of where the shifter cable attaches to the trans?. Mine runs uphill on an extreme angle (while in the park position) and doesn't look correct to me. Thanks

Re: She has paint!!
thanks for the comments guys. considering this is my first ever body work, and my dad hasn't sprayed paint since '82, i'm very happy with the outcome, and can't wait to get it back on the road next weekend. It'll look even better after sanding and buffing since there is a decent amount of orange peel on it right now.
the color is "Monza Red" and was used on 69 and 70 vettes. i had planned for a hugger orange, but after taking a fender in and comparing it to paint chips, this is what we came up with. |

That baby looks good Levi. I E-mailed a copy of the picture to Ron this morning. I'm doing some touch up on the White Truck and painting & installing the tailgate. LockDoc

Re: She has paint!!
yeah, it's been fun. the last car he painted was in 1982. the family friend he painted for is stopping over this weekend to check out the truck and is looking to have my dad paint the clip on his drag car that got wrecked last season.
the paint on that car, over 25 years old, still looks really good. it's black, and when they painted it, my dad was running the paint gun, while the other guy moved two trouble lights so my dad had light. talk about less than ideal conditions |
