k5 4x4 and c10 interchangeability
can you mount k5 4x4 suspenion/housing front and rear onto a c10/20 frame? friend wants to sell me all the 4x4 drivetrain from a k5 for 300. i've got a couple 2wd trucks around and wanted a 4x4. are there mounting holes already on the frames? any other suggestions/recommendations on this would be appreciated.
thanks, Dave |

ah well do, due to pesky 18.8kb/s dial up search is a painful process for me

Re: k5 4x4 and c10 interchangeability
I used a set of after-market brackets to convert my 2wd frame to 4wd. There isn't that much difference. Pics in my signature.

Re: k5 4x4 and c10 interchangeability
Frames are slightly different, but it can be done, you'll need the front spring mounts and crossmember too...... did it on my 68 with 70 K5 parts, there will be drilling and some fab work. Oh yeah, you'll need the steering box or pitman for 4X4 (my parts included the power steering box for the 4X4)

Re: k5 4x4 and c10 interchangeability
I did both. After-market engine cross-member and stock trans.
I do have a couple of stock 4x4 cross members and trans cross members of different combos, if you need 'em. Last edited by FormerMember; 05-21-2008 at 09:26 PM. |
