Dropped Spindle Brake Hose Q + Caliper Bolt Length

HI all,

I have an '86 LWB 2WD GMC, and I am in the process of installing a McGaughy's drop kit on it, 2.5" drop Spindles in front, 4" drop hangers in the rear. Anyway, the new rubber brake lines I bought basically interfere with the upper ball joint once installed. What alternatives have you used that work? I hate to bend the steel part of the line for clearance, and I'm not sure it will work. I was thinking braided steel lines...if so, anyone got a part number(s)?

thanks!

I had to bend the brake lines a bit when I put spindles on my dually.

Re: Dropped Spindle Brake Hose Q

New problem...caliper bolts form my NON-HD calipers and spindle are too short. I upgraded as a result of the spindle requirements. Anybody have a part number for the HD ones? I looked on NAPA's website but they don't specify between HD and non-HD rotors/calipers...just trying to head-off a parts counter debacle...looks like I need new ones that are 4-1/2 to 4-3/4 long. thanks again.

Hard as hell..why? How about screwing them in, marking the direction of the bend, then using a vice or small tubing bender? That's what I was thinking of doing...maybe nudging it over with a small hammer/pair of vice grips?

Maybe adjusting it in a vice, making a small bend, repositioning it, nudging again, etc, till it clears?

I had the same problem. I bent the stock lines but I also bought new braided lines from Summit and the ends are smaller. They will fit much better than the stock lines.

Do you have a part number, or a brand name/legth I could use to do a search?

Thanks...

P.S. What about your caliper bolts? Did you need longer ones?

Re: Dropped Spindle Brake Hose Q

I bent mine on the vehicle... It didn't take much, but yes, do be careful.
