Variable rate springs

I just installed a set of new variable rate springs on the rear of my 69' and 3 of the tightly rounded coils on both are touching. I was wonderin if that was okay and if that is gonna make for a rougher ride. Thanks.

Re: Variable rate springs

I had springs like that on my 61 and yea the close coils practically touched the ride only changes when you load it up.The good news is you can load the crap out if it . I used to put loads of scrap that were over 3000 in my 61 1/2 ton all the time.Carried it like a champ!

Re: Variable rate springs

I currently use rear springs out of a 70-72 Monte Carlo. They are a bolt in,but they are soft.I use air bags that you can get from Jeg's for $78,Part#022-60844.They fit inside the spring and keep the coils from compressing too much. They are adjustable from 5psi to 35psi.You can have a nice comfortable ride,or you can air them up to 35psi and put 3000lbs in the rear.Very adjustable, and they work real well for drag racing.Just my .02 worth.
