67 C-20 8 lug to 5 lug questions
Hey all,
This is my first question to everyone. I'm looking for the cheapest/easiest way to convert my 67 3/4 ton 2wd truck to 5 lug all the way around. The front is easy, it's the rear where I have questions. The truck has a Dana 60 8 lug rear-end. Should I just find a 5 lug rear-end and swap out, and if so what truck should I look for to find a 5 lug rear end? My rear suspension is the a coil spring set-up, not leaf springs, so that may complicate a rear-end swap. I don't know. Any help is appriciated. If possible I'd like to retain the Dana 60 since it's already under the truck. I wish there was a better selection of wheels for the eight lug hubs. |

Just swap in the half ton rear end. You will need the the pan-hard bar and the bracket it is bolted to on the frame from a half-ton to make it work. I believe they are different between half and 3/4 ton trucks.

Instead of going through the hassle of converting my 72 c-20 to a 1/2 ton. I went down to my local wheel store and spent $400 on a set of 8 lug 15 x 10 rims and then another 400 on 275-60-15 tires to mount on the rims. It looks great and It was easier than looking for the setups for the front and a new axle for the rear.
