did rally's come w/diff. backspce? or do I need 8"

I'm runnin 7" wide rally's w/235/60 tires on the front of my 77 2wd and the problem I have is the wheels are tucked in about 3-4". Would an 8" wide wheel only pull it out 1" or did rally wheels come in different b.s.?

All of them have 4" BS, the 8 will have 1" on the fender side..

I got a different answer. I went out to the shop and measured all three sizes of truck ralleys. Here's what I came up with.
15"x6.5" van ralley = 4" BS.

15"x7" truck ralley= 3 5/8" BS

And 15"x8" truck ralley= 4" BS.

Not that I doubt your measurements but dont the 15x7s use the 1" deep trim ring and the 15x8s use the 2" deep rings? That would seem to indicate the 1" difference is on the outside...is that wrong?

7" ralleys use the deep ring.

7's and 8's use the same trim ring. The trim ring is closer to the center of the wheel,... on the 7's. The van ralleys (6.5") use a narrower trim ring.
