you said blinker... does that mean turn signals or hazzard flashers? They are 2 separate circuits that share some things, but they all have 5 basic parts. Battery, fuse, switch, flasher, and bulbs. That's it... If you have a test meter that can read voltage and continuity, then check to see if anything else on the truck isn't working. Make note of anything that is. If the truck is completely dead, then suspect the battery. If you have voltage at the battery, and everything else seems to be working, then look at the fuse panel... Pull the fuses one by one, and check them for continuity and replace any that are bad... If that still doesn't work, If the turn signals don't work, Is it one side or both sides? If one side works and the other doesn't, suspect the switch or wiring. If it's the Hazzard flashers, Do all the lamps flash, or just some? If everything doesn't work, suspect the battery, fuse, switch or wiring. Find the flashers. with the ignition on and the turn signal lever in left or right position, then pull the turn signal flasher, and check for 12v between either connection and chassis ground... one terminal should show 12v, if not suspect the switch... switch to continuity and check between the other terminal and ground, you should have some resistance.. then check for continuity across both terminals of the flasher... if it's open, replace it. If it's still not working then with the ignition on, and the switch in left or right, then pull a bulb that should be flashing and check for 12v between the terminals of the socket and the chassis ground.... If the lights start flashing, its a ground problem, if the lights aren't flashing but you have voltage on the meter, then start replacing bulbs... If turning your parking lights on or off, or stepping on the brake effects the turn signals or hazzard flashers, then you have a short in the wiring between the 2 circuits, or a bad bulb somewhere, or a bad ground. |

Re: blinker malfunction after underhood washing
let the engine compartment dry out, water is no place under the hood of new cars in my opinion. we had a car at work that sit for 3 weeks after someone washed the engine before it dried out and would start
