Coil Spring bolt size Help?

After removing my dads springs last night ifound there to be no nuts welded to the inside of the cups on the bottom. I want to pick up some new bolts tonight. I figured grade 8 bolt with a washer running up through the bottom with a washer, lock washer and nut on top. SInce they run through the trailing arms doese anyone know how long they should be? I forgot to measure when I was there.

thanks

josh

Re: Coil Spring bolt size Help?

Just bought some here. 1/2 inch by 5 inch grade 8 is what I use. Get the grade 8 washers too. We put the lock washer under the head on the bottom, if it matters any. So we go from bottom - bolt-lock-flat-arm-spring-cup-flat-nut.

Top takes a 2 inch long bolt, 2 1/2 fits too, just more threads hang out. Here starting from bottom we go - bolt-flat-cup-spring-frame-lock-nut.
