Boy meets guy named Foose
I went to the American Graffiti festival in Modesto today. Saw a lot of nice cars but the moment that stole the show for me was when my 5 year old went right up to Chip Foose and yelled out "DAD ITS CHIP FOOSE". Chip turned to him and said "Do I know you"? My son said "yes, you're the guy from t.v". He was cool enough to pose for a picture even though my son cut in front of a line about a 1/4 mile long. What a nice guy.

Re: Boy meets guy named Foose
I ran into him as I was coming out of the Bellagio last week in Las Vegas. He had just pulled up in a limo with his wife. Seems like a nice guy.

Re: Boy meets guy named Foose
He always has come across as a sincerely nice guy on TV. I saw in at a car show once, but he was busy talking to some people so I didn't interupt him.

Re: Boy meets guy named Foose
I'll agree, he always seems to come off as a really nice guy.
I think I'd have to blow up and frame that one photo, it is a keepsake that your son will really appreciate when he gets a bit older. At least the line wasn't for people to get an autograph from some WWE pro wrassler, the people who stand in those lines get real testy if you walk in front of them to take a photo of a car at a car show. One of the reasons I haven't been back to the Portland (OR) Roadster show in several years. 500 people who's family trees appear to have single branches waiting for four hours to get some wrestlers autograph on a poster they pay 10 bucks for and not looking at one car in the place. Re: Boy meets guy named Foose
That is awesome. Your son will remember that day for the rest of his life. I still remember going to car shows as a kid and meeting Catherine Bach (Daisy Duke) and Lou Ferigno (Hulk) and having my pic taken next to the General Lee. That was the end-all-to-be-all back then. I agree that you should blow one up and frame it.
On a side note, isn't it great how kids and old people just don't give a damn? I mean, they say what's on their mind whenever it strikes. I love that.

Re: Boy meets guy named Foose
That is AWESOME, and I agree with riveted, he will remember today for the rest of his life.
I was about his age and went drag racing with my dad and his buddies, and I remember this goofy looking pink dragster pull up and pit next to us and my dad said, oh man, there's shirley. So the first person I saw get out of the passenger side, they had there back to me and long hair, I said, your Shirley Muldowney (sp) and it was some dude.... and she walked around from the other side and said, no, I'm shirley, got my picture taken with her and she signed the back, it was one of those instant polaroids. I still remember that day, today!!

Re: Boy meets guy named Foose
That is a cool pic! Make sure you blow it up and hang it on the wall. My wife has a great pic taken with her and Richard Petty that is still on our living room wall today!

Re: Boy meets guy named Foose
That is one more reson why I consider him to be the BEST in the business. What you see on TV is actually what you get in real life with Chip Foose. Just an all around nice guy.

Re: Boy meets guy named Foose
While in California on vacation this past April, my wife and I went to Huntington Beach and visited the Foose design facility. We lucked up and found him there on the only day of the week he was in Ca. While we were visiting he arrived from Vegas, He went in to say hi to his wife and then came out and greeted us. When he greets you, he makes you feel like he's happy to meet YOU, instead of the other way around. What a wonderful person and he is every bit as you see him on his show. We had a wonderful time there and would not trade it for anything. I also had a chance to meet Charlie, his painter and previously Coddington's painter and that was also a nice meeting. Oh yeah, We also met Sherry from overhauling, A nice gal. My wife and I had a wonderful visit and would definitely do it again. I cannot say enough good things about meeting Chip Foose. Its wonderful that your son had that opportunity and that others let it happen.

Re: Boy meets guy named Foose
I've heard he's nicer than Boyd. I think this was at Detroit Autorama. My brother in-law is second from the right. Both guys make some pretty sweet rides. Chip and Drew, that is.

Re: Boy meets guy named Foose
My father has met Sam Foose, Chip's dad, and says he is way cool too. Looks like he raised his son the right way...wish I could say the same for Coddington (RIP)
