big block id number question

bought a stock 1972 chevy c30 cheyenne super longhorn outside of sacramento california. got home to va. yesterday w/replacing only the starter motor and radiator. a few spots w/minor surface rust but no rot through anywhere. i was told that the engine (402 ci, option number L47), trans (turbo hydra-matic, option number M49), and rear end numbers matched. haven't been under it yet to read the cast numbers (97 degrees today,too hot). the engine id number is TI16TKX. can anyone identify the engine by this number OR a web site to reference? thanks.

Re: big block id number question

The proper casting # for the block should be 3999290

Here are a few links to engine id sites that I have used in the past.

Re: big block id number question

Nice truck!

The stamping code TI16TKX listed decodes as follows:

T=Tonawanda engine plant
I= ? month date code usually is (2) numbers and not a letter
16= 16th day of the month
TKX= 1972 Truck, 402 210 HP w/TH 400 transmission, L-47 used in C-20 and C-30 trucks

This is one of the sites that I use:
