I have a question has anyone put 4x4 axels under a 47 to 59 Chevy truck
what did it involve and what steering box did you use to get good power steering

Not factory.

Napco did a few conversions in the later model trucks.

Most people are swapping frames. I've seen those body styles on K5 frames, to convert to 4wd, get a stronger frame and power steering.

I have two pickups with later model frames and 4x4
have a couple of others and wanting to try it a different way
Iknow the Napco trucks had 4x4 acels added
does anyone know or a good steeriing box to use
when using stock frame

Gene post a few pics and we can help you out better. If your wanting to convert to power steering you can throw a hydro-boost on there at the same time and have power brakes and steering, a major bonus.

I think CPP has a set of weld on plates for a normal Chevy style Saginaw steering box.

Grendel, don't mean to hi-jack.. but is your username because of the 6.5 grendel cartridge?

my reccomendation would to (hopefully not being too obvious) use 1-ton axles. if you're serious about offroading it, i'd suggest high-steer arms.

the power steering box from 67+ 4X4 trucks should work fine for you if you have the correct place to put it (if your body mounts or other don't get in the way) and a steering box from a 2WD 67+ will work if you do use high-steer

mounting the steering box shouldn't be too much of a problem.

No, i've been using it far longer. I used to work with Beowulf Clusters years ago. I also was fond of the Epic and got tagged with it in high school.

I do agree, that considering you have to fab something up, I'd start off with at least cross over steering and stay away from a 4x4 push pull steering set up that Chevy loved so much.
