Spruced up the wheels today.
I was going to be getting some new wheels as part of this phase of the build. But since I blew my budget a few large purchases ago, some concessions had to be made. So I decided I'd at least try to polish a few of the 300,000 plus miles off of my existing wheels. I picked up a Mother's mini ball, and some polish today. Man, what a difference a couple of hours can make.

But when those get ironed out, she should get me around town 'til she gets torn down for the mean motor, OD, posi/gears, and some real paint. Jay

Re: Spruced up the wheels today.
I have the same wheels on my '96. They were installed in 2001 and never touched by my son, except for washes, while he was in Fairfield, CA. I bought the PowerBall and the mini. I don't like the big one, at least so far. My concern is the little oxidation spots that appear here and there. So, at the Power Tour in Little Rock on Saturday, I asked the reps at Mother's and they suggested their Billet polish. Haven't tried it, so don't know if it is any better. But, it's worth a shot.
Your wheels cleaned up nicely.

Re: Spruced up the wheels today.
That's funny, I just bought a mini ball last night and was polishing a set of wheels today. I picked them up last week and the front ones were almost black from brake dust and grim. A power wash yesterday, some Simple Green to get a fair amount of the caked on brake dust and about 15 minutes with the mini ball and though not new looking, look fairly close.
Good stuff. |

Re: Spruced up the wheels today.
Yeah, Mine came off of my '98 1/2 ton. It had close to 300,000 miles on it when I swapped it for the 71 (yeah, it's got the wrong grill right now..another thing to be addressed before too long).
The Billet polish huh? Might give that a try next. I wouldn't be so dead set on getting new wheels if I could find a pair of these in 15x10. But they seem nonexistent in that size. Oh well, good reason to save for the Halibrand Gassers I want anyway. Jay
