Re: colorado GoodGuy pictures

Fridays parking spot, along with my buddys "60" Chrysler Saratoga. And 500 plus miles of bugs. We had a great time & drove over 1300 miles with only a lost wiper blade.. Original 47 to 54 wiper blades don't stay attached when being used at 78 MPH. Was a good shake down run for the upcomming HotRod Power Tour.

Great pics! I especially like your bug-eyed GMC... Definitely not trailered!

Kid-

Are you planning on completing the whole tour or just a portion of it? The power tour is something that I really want to do when mine is complete. I would love to hear a recap of your trip when you return.

The truck looks great (even with 5 lbs of bug parts).

Kid,
Seeing your truck in person after following the build online was the highlight of the Goodguys show. Thanks for making the trip. What kind of gas mileage does the old truck get?

Thanks Powell, We sure enjoyed visiting the great state of Colorado. I am dissapointed with my gas milage. Started out getting 19 MPG, but droped to 16.5 MPG for most of the trip. But, according to the GPS, we kept the cruise set at 77-78 MPH for the whole trip. I will try staying at 65 to 70 MPH for the trip to LittleRock & see if that helps.

Kid-
Take more pictures of YOUR truck! Your GMC is probably my favorite of all the 48-54s I have ever seen. The color, the wheels, the stance. You flat nailed it!

Re: colorado GoodGuy pictures

Kid, 1st of all I love the bug shot! I will be proud to sport bugs on mine as my '54 won't see a trailer unless it breaks down. I get 15-16 mpg on the freeway with my Vortec 5.7 '99 Tahoe and about 20-22mpg on the freeway with my TPI 5.7 '88 IROC Camaro. I'm hoping for right in the middle with the '54 as it will also be a TPI 5.7 with 700R4 and should be lighter than the Tahoe and more than the IROC. I get better milage at 1750 RPM's(or at 55mph)then I do at 2000 PRM's(or at 65-70mph). My '88 IROC was geared for 1988 55mph speed limit's. Somthing to keep in mind as we enter the $5 a gallon fuel price range. I'm stubborn though, if I want to save gas I'll ride my HD. Otherwise I'm doing $overtime$ to feed my need for torque and HP. No Japanese or Korean 4 bangers in my driveway! If you ever make it to CA or I get to KS, we ought to hook up. I'd like to do the power tour as well. Cool pics BTW!

Re: colorado GoodGuy pictures

Thanks Chevyrestoguy, makes all that work worthwhile. OK folks, got back this afternoon from my Hot Rod Power Tour stint. Gotta say 1 thing, DAMN thats the funnest car thing I've ever done. If you ever get the chance to go on the Power Tour, take it! Left Kansas Friday morning at 8:30 AM for Little Rock & arrived at 4:30PM. Kept the speed at 65 or less & got 20.5 MPG!!! Any way nuff talk, heres a shot from the fair grounds in Little Rock, the first stop of the power tour. And the parking lot at the Host motel Saturday evening. (sorry for the lousy pics, don't know how to make them any larger)

Re: colorado GoodGuy pictures

These young guys drove from Wisc. in this little coupe & were staying at the same motel that we were, so I gotta shot of them replacing the intake gaskets to fix their oil leak. The motel was full of gear heads & half of them had to give their 2 cents on how to do it. I think they could have got done alot sooner if everybody would have left them alone. I think I'm gonna blow this shot bigger & hang in my shop..

Re: colorado GoodGuy pictures

For some reason I lost all my pictures from Springfield, where there were 3400 cars. but heres a couple from Topeka. And the last shot is a "Aerial" open cockpit street legal track racer that these 2 guys are doing the tour with, keep in mind, we drove over 150 miles in rain yesterday while traveling from Springfiel to Topeka!!

For those of you interested in the streetable open cockpit car:
http://www.arielmotor.co.uk/
I've read about it before. I believe Jay Leno has one with a GM 4 cylinder "Ecotec" motor. The HP/Wieght ratio is amazing. Somthing like a motorcycle. BTW Kid, thx for the cool pics. I look FWD to doing the tour someday with the '54.

Just imagine if someone had rocked the coupe a bit and rolled the intake off the rear wheel
